The Motofest returns to Daytona and takes the sidecars

Friday’s practice sessions saw a first at Daytona International Speedway: motorcycles with sidecars.

The sidecar race is part of this weekend’s “MotoFest”, which returns to Daytona for the first time since 2015.

The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) Classic MotoFest kicks off the 2022 motorcycle racing season this weekend in Daytona. Off-Road MX, Dirt Track and a full list of road races will be featured on the Daytona Road Course and Tri-Oval Track, as well as on the Dirt Track and “Hayfield” near the Speedway.

The star category of the AHRMA is the Vintage Superbike Heavyweights, which debuted at Daytona 45 years ago. The first installment of the 2022 Vintage Cup Heavyweight Superbike series is scheduled for Saturday.

In addition to racing inside the Speedway, there will be Vintage and Post-Vintage MX on a 135-acre grassy and wooded site (Lot 7). Nighttime dirt track action will also be featured on Daytona’s quarter-mile flat track off the West Rim.

The Speedway infield will be open to the campsite all weekend. Field events will also include a Swap Meet and Bike Show, which will feature local and national vintage motorcycle clubs.
