Royal Enfield KX 650 cruise motorcycle spied on video
Royal Enfield is testing a new cruiser for the Indian market. It will likely be called the KX 650 and it looks like it is almost production ready as it is tested on Indian roads. It will be the most equipped Royal Enfield motorcycle the manufacturer has ever produced and it will also be Royal Enfield’s new flagship. The video was uploaded by Masked Moto to his YouTube channel. The motor cruiser has been spotted in Chennai and from the video we can see what the new cruiser will look like when it hits the Indian market.
In the video, the KX 650 can be seen rolling along the road. Design inspiration for the KX 650 comes from the KX Bobber Concept which was showcased at EICMA 2019. However, the powertrain is not like the Concept. The engine is derived from the 650 twins. So it is a 650cc parallel twin engine instead of 838cc, liquid cooled, fuel injected V-twin engine.
First, we take a good look at the front where we can see a circular halogen headlight with orange circular turn signals that has brackets for a high windshield but it is not fitted to this test mule. Previous spy shots have confirmed that the KX 650 will come with a factory windshield or as an official accessory. Then we see the teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a radiator that looks quite a bit like the 650 twins, a blacked-out engine, and a split seat setup. The driving triangle is clearly relaxed, just like a cruiser style. The footrests are placed in the front and the handlebars are wide, providing enough leverage and comfort for the rider. The motorcycle receives single mufflers at both ends which come directly from the engine. At the rear there is a passenger seat with a backrest and a circular brake light and circular indicators. We can also see the factory fitted black alloy rims which will come with tubeless tires.
Suspension functions will be provided by inverted forks at the front, which will be a first for Royal Enfield and twin shocks at the rear. Braking will be provided by a disc at the front and a disc at the rear. Royal Enfield will offer dual channel ABS as standard. The instrument cluster is also expected to be one of the more advanced units offered by Royal Enfield. So it should offer some type of information to the pilot and it will also come with the Tripper navigation which debuted with the Meteor 350.
Royal Enfield is currently working on launching a new motorcycle quarterly for the next 7 years. So there should be 4 builder motorcycles every year. The last motorcycle to join the range will be the Himalayan 2021 which will be launched tomorrow. It has also been spied on recently and you can click here to read more about it. Thanks to the spy shots, we got a feel for what the Royal Enfield will offer with the new Himalayan. They are also working on a Classic 650, Classic 350 and a less powerful Interceptor which will be more affordable.
