To wear a helmet

A helmet may not be 100% guaranteed to save a life, but it protects your head and offers a better chance of survival than riding without a helmet. A proper helmet should be made of a polycarbonate-based material as it is both lightweight and can reliably withstand the impact of a crash. Before buying a helmet, consider these factors: ISO rating, safety mechanism, weight, ventilation, visibility, comfort of padding, style and finally, the cost of the motorcycle.

Being seen

It is best to wear bright, visible clothing made of reflective material. Especially early morning, nights and cloudy days. Wearing light-coloured clothing makes it easier for other road users to see an approaching motorcyclist, which greatly reduces accidents.

Wear a pair of riding gloves

A good pair of riding gloves is something that should be necessary for bikers as the hands are extremely fragile. Motorcycle gloves, in general, are sweat-, water-, scratch-resistant and lightweight, complete with knuckle guards and wrist support to protect hands from debris, slips and most importantly again, in an accident. The material should be washable and comfortable for runners to wear for an extended period of time.

Wear riding boots

People who often tend to wear casual shoes and sandals when cycling can often lead to dangerous injuries, as the toes and ankles are often susceptible to impact and are usually the first thing to hit the ground when cycling. a bicycle is stopped. Motorcycle boots protect your toes and ankles at all times and also provide comfort and traction. Motorcycle boots are often durable and sturdy, while providing adequate control over shifting and braking.

Choose additional safety equipment

This protective equipment may not be mandatory, but prevention is better than cure. Items like body armor, elbow pads, shin pads and knee pads can help provide additional protection that will further reduce the risk. Motorcycle gear is designed to be impact resistant, absorbing most of the shock from a crash, protecting most of your body, especially high impact areas of the body like elbows and knees. Gears like these often come with extra padding to ensure comfort and safety.

Protective gear can greatly reduce the risk, but there are also things to keep in mind, like being alert at all times. It is important to know your surroundings and not to drive recklessly. Be sure to check the weather forecast as the weather often influences what you need and how you should cycle as cyclists are out in the open at all times.

Know the bike safety rules and obey the rules of the road accordingly to avoid trouble. Be alert at intersections and watch out for dirt, potholes, puddles and other road hazards, as cyclists often have accidents for these simple reasons. Always carry a repair kit and learn how to fix your flat tire so you don’t get stuck in a remote or dangerous area.

Cycling safety should always be the first thing riders should keep in mind, whether they are riding a motorcycle for the first time or are experienced riders. Always research and plan ahead before buying new gear, and remember to replace old ones when they wear out.
