2022 Overland Expo West welcomes dual sport and adventure riders
Overlanding has become massively popular within the SUV and 4×4 truck communities in recent years. While many Overlanders travel on four wheels, adventurous bikers are no strangers to the Overlanding lifestyle. To welcome the motorcycle community with open arms, Overland Expo West will be offering motorcycle lessons, training, demonstrations, vendors and parties in Flagstaff, Arizona from May 20-22, 2022.
Motorcycle courses and training are at the heart of the Overland Expo West program. From off-road rookies to trail experts, the program will appeal to a wide range of riders. Day Pass and Weekend Pass holders will have access to all courses offered at the event, with the ADVMoto Skills Zone, Gaia GPS Backcountry Skills section and the Around the World Pavilion hosting lessons throughout the weekend.
There’s something for everyone on the Overland Expo West route. Gearheads will dabble in workshops like motorcycle tire repair, on-road/trail motorcycle maintenance, and trail tools, while mileage buffs will soak up the 2Up World Tour, survival as a couple on a long-distance tour, minimalist packaging for adventure. Riding seminars.
On bikes, riders can take their skills to the next level in the Motorcycle Expedition Skills Area (MESA). Led by Dragoo Adventure Rider Training (DART), ADV courses allow riders to learn new skills on a tailored training course. Courses range from precision bike management to failure recovery to obstacle clearance.
The Motorcycle Expedition Skills Zone will also feature a Freestyle Skills Session, where riders can test their mettle on the challenging terrain of the course. The festival rally games will also provide light-hearted fun with the Slow Race, Limbo Contest and Barrel Roll Challenge. However, Overland Expo West is not just for modern bikers. Adults and children interested in getting on two wheels can also take part in the Motorcycle Industry Council’s Ride With Us Moto Intro course and the First Steps to Two Wheel Adventure course.
Vendors will also be present at the Moto Village with OEMs like Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, Mosko Moto and Cycle Gear, and manufacturers like Honda and Triumph ready to prepare participants for their next big adventure. After the sun goes down, bikers can also party for a good cause with the Rider Justice Moto Party, which donates proceeds to Go Ruffly Around the World. Less than a month before the weekend, interested ADV and bi-sport riders can purchase tickets on the Overland Expo website.
